Music Theory Bridging CourseAimThe Music Theory Bridging Course is designed for students commencing tertiary studies in Music who have not studied Stage 2 Musicianship or AMEB Grade 5 Theory or Musicianship. The Music Theory Bridging Course aims to fast-track essential music theory topics in a functional and musical way. Students who may have undertaken previous theory studies, but who struggle with theoretical aspects of music, may also benefit from this course. Course OutlineThe program offers 30 hours of classes over 5 days in mid-February each year. (Thursday 11 - Wednesday 17 February 2010.) It comprises a mixture of lectures and workshops. Students will have the opportunity to experience keyboard, singing, aural work, score-reading and composition throughout the course in order to consolidate the theoretical topics. Each day is structured into 2 sessions, each with a 1 hour lecture followed by a 2-hour workshop, as follows:

ApplicationStudents wishing to apply for the Music Theory Bridging Course should complete the application form and submit it to the Conservatorium before the closing date early in February. Places in the course are limited and if there are more applicants than places available, payment dates will determine who should receive them.
