SA Instrumental Music Service Review
Following the State Budget on September
21st, 2006, there were reports in the local media that there may be
substantial cuts to some DECS programs, in particular, Instrumental Music
Service. The Instrumental Music Service is an integral part of the delivery of music
education in South Australia and a reduction of this service would have
serious and wide spread implications for the public school students of
this state. Such a move would be at odds with the National Review of
School Music Education, the recommendations of which were endorsed in August 2006 at
the National Workshop in Melbourne.
